Keeping a Balance as an Affiliate

What are some of the biggest obstacles of being an affiliate?

Like anything else you do on your own, affiliate marketing is a business and a business needs to be nurtured and kept strong so that you can keep generating results and in turn revenue.

The first rule in affiliate marketing that needs to be followed is – to treat affiliate marketing like a real business!

What does that mean? Well – if you’re going to open a business and compete with other businesses, you need to be willing to put in some start-up money to get the business running.

The amount of course varies, but you would need to be realistic as to what exactly your goals are and where you are budget-wise. That’s why you need to keep a balance and not get ahead of yourself.

So how do you do that? First, the best suggestion is to have a 6 month to a year game plan that you can follow to some degree that gives you a direction in terms of what you want to do. Here are a few points:

  1. What product/service do you want to promote?
  2. What source of traffic do you want to work with? Some examples – SEO, Paid traffic, other
  3. Do you intend to work on your own or do you have a team?
  4. What are your skillsets and how can you best utilize them in this specific case?

Based on the above, we will go over some of these in detail based on our own experience and recommendations:

  1. High ticket items are a good place to start – online casinos, online forex and anything where you can be paid at a high margin is a great place to start. Keep in mind that the barrier to entry starts with two parts – traffic and regulation.
  2. SEO is by far the healthiest way to bring traffic – but it’s also the hardest. It takes a long time, a lot of discipline and is very unpredictable. It’s still by far the healthiest and will get you far because of the most important part – it requires a website. The website is the hub of everything – it’s like buying real estate, even if it’s not in great shape it’s shere existence has value in and of itself.

Other areas like paid traffic like Google ads, or buying media vary based on the industry and product you want to promote. – but the key here is, you’re getting instant results or close to it because you’re paying for each click you bring based on the text you use and the landing page you create or take from an existing program.

  1. Many people have struggled to keep their business going because of one reason – they’re on their own. Like anything else – there are pros and cons to this. The biggest pro is that you’re in charge and get to reap the rewards of your effort. The cons are that if you get sick, busy with other things or whatever else, the business stops as well.
  2. Being realistic on what you know how to do and what you need to learn are key to your success. If you know how to write content, and if you have other languages that’s a very valuable skill that, with the right support and training – can be utilized to create something bigger and better which can create for you a residue
